Jimmy Buffett Celebrity Caricature Print by Don Howard

Mr. Howard's latest Tribute To Jimmy Buffett

Jimmy Buffett was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, a real southern boy. I understand that he also lived in Mobile, AL as a child. I love his music and he has had a number of wonderful hits— “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and “Margaritaville” to name a few, although I am torn between “that frozen concoction that helps me hang on” or “that big warm bun and a huge hunk of meat”.  Anyway, he is one of my earlier celebrities. I thought the caricature was pretty neat, however, it appears that a few “parrot heads” felt that it could stand a little improvement. I know what you’re thinking, but I don’t have a problem with a little constructive criticism of my celebrity caricatures—the operative word here is CONSTRUCTIVE! I took their suggestions to heart, grabbed the old pen and paper and created an illustration that amazed even me! [second Jimmy Buffett Caricature] I guess everyone liked this one because he was an instant hit! Thank you Parrot Heads.

This new rendition is my special tribute to Jimmy—I really admire/appreciate his efforts to get more tourists to come back to the Alabama beaches following the BP oil spill with the Jimmy Buffett and Friends Free Concert

  1. I got it yesterday (the print), I really love it! I can figure out most of the stuff (it is all from the Margarittaville song), but what is the significance of the dog, the alligator mask, and Mardi Gras beads?

  2. No significance--just the author’s prerogative.

  3. Your artwork is outstanding to say the least. Is that color pencil on illustration board or do you scan your artwork and color it in photoshop? Was just interested in knowing how you achieve such a brilliant finished look to your drawing.
